journey of life

i saw the world, when it was young,
i was young then too.
i was but then,an insignificant being,
but something very new.

taking form after form,
from small to large,
i spread all through the world.
from insects to 'mammoth' dinosaurs,
i thrived,i died out but was born back through.

and i thought this cycle will never end,
my incarnations in forms so many but new.
and though pattern repeated and i borned and died,
but countless rich stories
continued to brew.

alas the world is ending now,
this cycle will soon be over.
was it all pointless,my whole existence,
maybe no one will know it ever.

at last i am tired of running,
i'll leave the question of my meaning.
tell me someday,if you do find it,
through persistent gleaning.

but now,i'll close my eyes,
and bid goodbye forever.
maybe we'll meet someday,
and maybe you'll recognize me,
in a form new,maybe never.

BOOK REVIEW:ARTEMIS FOWL AND THE ATLANTIS COMPLEX

I read the latest book of Artemis Fowl a week ago.Needless to say,it was a great book.Eoin Colfer is a genius to have maintained the quality of a book series through so many Artemis Fowl books.Though based on  Artemis Fowl, the child genius, the latest book was greatly different from its predecessors.

Firstly, this one had,not the usual sharp Artemis Fowl who saves the world with his wit but rather on an Artemis afflicted with a condition known as Atlantis Complex--a unique mixture of obsessive complusive disorder(OCD),multiple personality disorder, paranoia and suspicion to the extent that he doesn't even trust his baby brothers and has suspicions of them hatching a conspiracy against him(this was a really funny scene).

This book is also different in a manner that it transcends in the emotional arena like no other Artemis Fowl book has ever done. There  are precious few emotional scenes but endearingly so.Like the dedication of Turnball Root to his wife.TRULY HEARTBREAKING.Also this book shows that how evil things are done for the right reasons and the world isn't a black and white place with some good and bad guys.

In this book we meet  Orion Fowl,an alter ego of Artemis Fowl created by his subconscious due to the multiple personality disorder.Another thing that really surprised me(pleasantly so) was the accuracy of description of the phenomena of the subconscious. It is said that even though we may not register everything that we see consciously, but our subconscious never forgets anything it sees. This book uses this fact.

Also the book shows Holly in her usual energetic self and Foaly in not-so-bloating self(surprising..eh?).We also see Butler's sister Juliet in her likeable self and Butler in his big brother self.Apart from all this the book is very picturisque in its descriptions, especially of the glaciers.

Overall the book is very well written and is at par,if not better than the previous Artemis Fowl books.Still it makes for  a light read, nothing very intense. Some scenes will literally cause people to laugh out loud and some are to an extent, emotional.Hats off to Eoin Colfer. Some people may criticize the end calling it open-ended.But that is to leave room for conclusion in the last book.Atlantis Complex is the penultimate book in the series.

Definitely worth a(many) read(s).
